Guy Davis
Guy Davis
"A Night With The Blues"

He's got some Blind Willie McTell and some Fats Waller, some Buddy Guy and some Taj Mahal. He's got some Zora Neale Hurston, some Garrison Keillor, and some Laura Davis (his ninety-seven year old grandmother).

He's a composer, actor, director and writer. But most importantly, Guy Davis is a bluesman. The blues permeate every corner of Guy's creativity. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to reviving the traditions of acoustic blues and bringing them to as many ears as possible through the material of the great blues masters, African American stories, and his own original songs, stories and performance pieces.

Guy's creative roots run deep. Though raised in New York, he grew up hearing accounts of life in the rural south from his parents and grandparents, and they made their way into his own stories and songs. Guy was also exposed early to the world of show business -- his parents are actors, directors and storytellers Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. In 1995 Red House Records released "Stomp Down Rider," Guy in live performance of some of his own original songs and masterpieces by Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly and Mance Lipscomb.

The greatest gifts on earth are God's children. Don't be afraid to share with
the people, because we all come from one Creator."

An enrolled member of Fort Berthold's three affiliated tribes, Kenny Merrick, Jr.'s experience with Indian culture has been life-long in the making. Mr. Merrick is also a Grammy nominated musician who has traveled around the world performing Native American music.
