|
Gigi Guthrie reminds you that chronic Lyme disease is treatable! A psychotherapist in New Canaan, Connecticut, she is a graduate of Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University, New York, New York and Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York. Previously she was a residential counselor for the Silver Hill Hospital, New Canaan, Connecticut, and was an art teacher for children with language-based learning disabilities at the Windward School, White Plains, New York. Sometimes a person with chronic Lyme disease is following a treatment that has reached a plateau or doesn't seem to work any longer. Learning that other treatments exist can help a person with Lyme disease discover he or she hasn't hit a complete stonewall—and hope and help abound. Gigi Guthrie explains several conventional, as well as non-antibiotic, complementary, and alternative treatments being used today to fight chronic Lyme disease and its associated conditions. She describes how and why each treatment works, what are its benefits, what are considerations or concerns, and how to carry out each treatment. Staying ahead of the disease with treatments that are actively showing results is a way to prevent Lyme from advancing or regaining lost ground. By doing so, Lyme disease's hold on the body can be broken and recovery set in motion. Ms. Guthrie's presentation is compiled from research drawn from studies, books, articles and websites about chronic Lyme disease. It is also based upon consultations with doctors, health professionals and psychotherapists, as well as her conversations with caregivers, patients, people who know people with Lyme disease, and loved ones. Gigi Guthrie's presentation is not intended to take the place of medical advice from a trained medical professional. What hearing Gigi speak will do is give hope and information to a person with Lyme disease, his or her caregiver, neighbors, friends, or others in the healing professions who are experiencing the emotional and physical roller coaster of chronic Lyme disease and trying to find a remedy for it. Always remember, chronic Lyme disease is treatable! Ms. Guthrie's book has a fully annotated appendix, which is immensely helpful to readers. She sells Chronic Lyme Disease: Ways to Outsmart a Smart Disease following her talks.
